Reds from Down Under

Explore red wines from Australia and New Zealand with us!

The history of viticulture in Australia and New Zealand is relatively short. In Australia, vines arrived on the continent with British prisoners in 1788. In New Zealand, the first vines were planted by Christian missionaries in 1819 with the first record of actual wine production dating to the late 1830s.

We all know Australia for Shiraz and New Zealand for Sauvignon Blanc. Did you know New Zealand has great Pinot Noir ? And that Australia has incredible Riesling as well as Chardonnay ?

There can be some really good values of lesser known wines. Come by and explore with me! Swirl, sniff, taste and spit (ok, so don’t spit), and see what you like and don’t like. You won’t like everything, but trying things you may pass over can introduce new wines to your wheelhouse!
