Tasting The Wines Of Germany & Austria

Germany produces some of the world’s most majestic wines. The vineyards of Germany lie at the northernmost extreme of where grapes can grow. The best sites are on south-facing slopes to catch all the sunlight and warmth they can. Contrary to popular perception, most fine German wines are not sweet. Riesling, considered the greatest varietal from Germany, can range from Sweet to bone dry. Those of us who have only tried the German wines commonly found in the U.S. will be pleasantly surprised by the quality and affordability of these wines. Austrian wine is not well known in the U.S. but there are some wonderful wines to be found there as well.

Cheers!
