Tucson, AZ (December 21, 2015) – Maynards Market & Kitchen is excited to announce their addition of a second edition private label wine to their already robust wine collection. Like the first edition, the new AZ RED Malbec Blend was grown and produced in Southern Arizona in conjunction with nationally-recognized vintner Rob Hammelmen of Sand-Reckoner Vineyards. As Maynards’ mission of integrating local products in their market and on their menus continues, they take it to the next level by producing another local wine. Both of their private label Malbec and Zinfandel blends are available now to enjoy by the glass or by the bottle at the Market or Kitchen, as well as at The Hotel Congress.

To bring the AZ RED Malbec Blend to fruition, Maynards partnered with two family-owned Arizona wineries, both of which played a significant role in producing the Malbec Blend. The grapes were first sourced from Golden Rule Vineyards, and then sent to Rob Hammelman of Sand-Reckoner Vineyards to be blended into the perfect new AZ RED. Together, these vintners created a rich, dark and juicy blend with robust tannins. Medium bodied with plum-like flavors, the Malbec contains 75% Malbec grapes, 17% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot. This new blend makes an excellent addition to Maynards’ selection of exceptional wines.

Maynards Market & Kitchen’s in-house Sommelier, Steven Berger, curates their Wine Spectator-recognized selection and has been proud to be a part of the process in adding two private label wines to their already diverse collection. Maynards considers producing a private label wine, let alone two, and having the chance to partner with two award-winning, family-operated wineries to be a feather in their cap and the continuation of their distinction among other Tucson restaurants.

Visit Maynards Market & Kitchen or The Hotel Congress to try the new Malbec Blend! Be sure to keep your wine choices local by ordering it by the glass at either of the award-winning restaurants, or pick up a bottle to enjoy with family and friends over the holidays. Who knows, maybe Maynards will bring us more great AZ RED wines in 2016! Stay tuned.
