Maynards Market & Kitchen Triples Their Donation to Ben’s Bells at the Second Annual Ice Cream Showdown
TUCSON, AZ (August 11, 2015) No one expected the second Ice Cream Showdown to be this successful, as 575 Tucsonans descended to the historic train depot to not only cool down during National Ice Cream Month, but to also support the amazing local non-profit. Without the generosity of the nine local creameries bringing their a-game ice cream and the crowds who attended, Maynards Market & Kitchen wouldn’t have been able to raise $4,702.14 for the The Ben’s Bells Project which was triple the amount from the first Ice Cream Showdown. It’s great to see dollars in action and attendees should be proud to know the amount raised will sustain one year of their Kindness Education Program at nine schools!
The event continues their partnership with Ben’s Bells as they know how beneficial the rewards can be for the program. “We knew that only good things could come from combining kindness and ice cream! But we never could have imagined how generous a donation we would receive from Maynards’ because of this event. Wow! This contribution provides significant and vital support for our rapidly growing programs – it’s an investment in building a foundation of kindness in our community for all of us! We are thrilled and grateful! “, says Jeannette Maré, Executive Director & Ben’s Mom
The showdown wouldn’t be a showdown without winners and the The Screamery claimed two golden scoops for Best Overall and Most Inventive for their Bacon & Bourbon ice cream and Brushfire Creamery snagged Kid’s Choice for their blue Cookie Monster. Families also had a great time taking advantage of the free film projected at the Southern Arizona Train Museum that night. The film, aptly chosen, FROZEN was just the cherry on top.
A special thank you to all the creameries that came out and participated:
