The Second Annual Ice Cream Showdown Benefiting Ben’s Bells Is Back & They Want to Double the Donation with Double the Creameries
TUCSON, AZ (June 15, 2015) The scoop for the Second Annual Ice Cream Showdown is Maynards Market wants to raise $3,500 for The Ben’s Bells Project. Last year they were able to raise $1,600 in two hours and this year they want to more than double the donation with double the participating creameries. The refreshing fundraiser, coinciding with National Ice Cream month and 2nd Saturdays Downtown, was wildly successful so Maynards increased the tickets available and moved it to their back plaza adjacent to the train tracks. Tucsonans will win when the ten Arizona creameries go head to head for the coveted golden ice cream scoops with over twenty custom flavors to choose from. Tickets are only $10 which gives guests 10 tasting tickets and are purchased online or at the door from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 11 at Maynards Market.
Creameries have three chances to take home a trophy, and bragging rights of course. The winners are chosen by attendees and the three categories are: Best Overall Ice Cream, Most Inventive, and Kids Choice. The creameries are providing two varieties of ice cream for attendees to melt in their mouths, 1 kid-friendly version and 1 adult version and alcohol is allowed in the adult-friendly version. The competition is strictly for the love and purity of ice cream which is why no toppings are allowed, however creameries can have ingredients mixed into the ice cream at time of production.
